Old Car Festival
 

General Information

The Galt Old Car Festival (motorcycles and trucks too) is a one day event held annually in September on the forth Sunday. 
For 2010 it will be held on the 26th of September. 

This show is unique in that only vehicles that were manufactured before 1943 are on display. 
The cars must be original and must be able to be driven into the viewing area. 
The Galt Area Historical Society sponsors this event which will be held at the McFarland Ranch just west of Galt, California.  

This popular event began in 1988 when it was sponsored by the Galt Police Officers Association
and held at the Dry Creek Golf Course Driving Range. 
The Historical Society was asked to participate at this event which had 33 cars on display. 

The Police Officers Association saw this as a one time event but the Historical Society was interested in having more "old car" shows. 
It is a great opportunity for local families and owners of vintage cars to get together. 

In 1990, the festival outgrew the golf-course driving range and moved to historic Harvey Park. 
We used our McFarland Living History Ranch for the first time in 2004. 
Click here for maps and directions.  Exhibitors have asked that the Festival be limited to 100 car-owners only, so that the ambiance of a "gathering" could be maintained.   

The society has fund raisers throughout the year and this annual event is its major benefit fund raiser for the Rae House Museum. 
The old car show has been one of the best and most fun.  It is a lot of work, but our members do a very good job. 
Each year we get many reports from exhibitors that this is one of the most fun events of the year. 
Trophies are awarded to the outstanding car in each of the classifications. 
Two major trophies are awarded: "Peoples Choice", chosen by the spectators, and "Best of Show", chosen by the exhibitors
